Last weekend we had a bit of a fright but thanks to the power of social media our luck changed!

We recently bred from our two beautiful dogs and as you do, we kept one of the puppies Rubicon aka Ruby – yes, they were all named after coding languages, that’s just how we roll!! Anyway, Ruby was special to us as Caroline helped bring her back to life as she struggled during the birth and she immediately had a soft spot in our hearts – so when we discovered at 9am last Saturday morning she had disappeared we were absolutely distraught.

After a few hours, Caroline turned to social media to share pictures of Ruby and to ask for anyone to notify us if they spotted her, and so the shares began in the local area – in fact, in total, we had around 4000 shares and had received contact from lostdogs.co.uk who were absolutely incredible – providing us with templates for posters to stick up and share on social media too.

Unfortunately, we did have a call from a rather mean character who had obviously seen our posts on social and who had decided that he would try for financial gain due to our loss – thanks to some quick thinking by Jonathan, we soon realised the call was fraudulent and let this charming character go on his way.

Eventually, Ruby was spotted by our local Chinese delivery man and we couldn’t have been more grateful! He gave us the call, we hopped in the car and low and behold, there she was just 2 miles down the road – once she heard us she came hurtling out of the hedges and straight into the car!

We appreciate this post is a little ‘off-topic’ but we really wanted to share with you how incredible social media, local communities and those willing to help can be, without these platforms we believe that we may not have got Ruby back.

Thank you to everyone that helped us, we couldn’t be any more grateful.

Needless to say Ruby will be staying indoors until her new GPS collar arrives!
